Asian Games: gold and bronze for the Qatari equestrian team on the closing day

The Qatari equestrian team won two gold and bronze medals at the conclusion of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the competitions of which closed today in Japan.

The champions of Al-Adam succeeded in presenting a wonderful and honorable level in the equestrian competitions, as the knight Faleh Suwaid Al-Ajmi won the gold medal in the individual show jumping competitions. Al-Ajmi gave an outstanding performance in the final competitions, clinching first place and topping the podium, confirming his strong presence in the show jumping competitions, and adding a new gold medal to the State of Qatar’s tally in the tournament.

Also in the individual competitions, Qatari rider Bassem Mohammed won the bronze medal, adding a new Qatari achievement to the show jumping competitions, and completing the presence of the Al-Adam Knights on the podium.

The individual competitions witnessed the participation of an elite group of continental riders. The competitions were held in two categories according to the height of the obstacles, and our champions succeeded in reaching the podium in both categories.

The coronation of Faleh Al-Ajmi and Bassem Mohammed confirmed the strength of the Qatari equestrian presence in the Aichi Nagoya 2026 tournament, and reflects the distinguished level demonstrated by the Al-Adam riders during the show jumping competitions.

This achievement marked the conclusion of Qatar’s participation in the 20th Asian Games in Japan, where Al-Adam’s tally rose to 18 colored medals, 6 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals, in one of Al-A’dam’s best participations in history in its foreign participation in the Asian Games.

Attention will be directed towards the next edition, “Asiad 2030”, which will be hosted by Qatar, and the achievements achieved in the Aichi Nagoya tournament will be built upon in order to achieve great achievements in the future that reflect the tremendous capabilities of the champions in the various competitions.

For his part, Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, affirmed his happiness with the achievement achieved by the Qatari riders in the individual show jumping competitions at the Aichi Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, after Faleh Al-Ajmi won the gold medal and Bassem Mohammed won the bronze medal.

He said: “I dedicate this achievement to the wise leadership of the country, to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and to the Qatari people and the equestrian champions.”

He added: “We are very happy to win the gold medal and the bronze medal on the closing day of the equestrian competitions. We congratulate our riders, Faleh Al-Ajmi and Bassem Muhammad, for this achievement, and best of luck to the rest of our riders who were not so lucky,” praising all the efforts made by the equestrian support team.

He continued: “We were not successful in the team competitions, but we succeeded in making up for that in the individual competitions. Thank God we were able to conclude the competition on a good note, and we also congratulate the Gulf brothers who achieved medals,” praising the level presented by the Qatari riders during their participation in the tournament, stressing that the coronation in the individual competitions represents a distinguished conclusion to the Qatari equestrian participation in Aichi Nagoya 2026.
