The Qatar Press Center mourned with great sadness and sorrow the media figure and sports journalist Fayez Abdul Hadi, who passed away after a busy career and media career that spanned nearly half a century, during which he presented a model of a professional journalist dedicated to his profession, and left a firm mark on sports journalism and the Qatari and Arab media.
The deceased is considered one of the media professionals who contributed to enriching the Qatari media scene, and his experience extended between print journalism, radio, and television, combining professionalism, experience, and the ability to document and monitor, and keeping pace with important milestones in the development of sports in the State of Qatar. The deceased began his professional career in Doha in 1978 through “Al-Saqr” magazine, which was one of the prominent experiences in Arab sports journalism, before moving on to multiple media experiences, the most notable of which was his work in “Al-Raya” newspaper as a full-time writer and head of the sports section in a number of publications, in addition to his work as a correspondent for a number of Arab newspapers and magazines, including the London-based “Al-Hayat” and the Egyptian “Sports News,” in addition to media experiences in Emirati and Egyptian institutions. His career extended to Qatar TV, where he worked as a preparer and presenter of sports programs, and contributed to the preparation and presentation of successful programmes, including the “People and Ramadan” program. He also participated in covering many major sporting tournaments and events, and accompanied important stages of the Qatari sports journey, including the announcement of the State of Qatar’s victory in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Fayez Abdul Hadi’s name was particularly associated with the sports that he followed and documented, most notably equestrian, tennis and football. He also left a legacy. An important documentary through his authorship of about 36 sports books that dealt with clubs, tournaments, stars, and various stations in the history of Qatari sports. In addition to his professional contributions, the deceased was known for his high morals, calmness, gentleness, and good relations with his colleagues, sports people, and the media. Throughout his career, he remained close to everyone, keen for the word to be a bridge of communication and love. The Center expresses its sincere condolences and sympathies to the family of the deceased, his relatives, and his colleagues. And his lovers, asking God Almighty to cover him with His vast mercy, dwell him in His spacious gardens, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
The Qatar Equestrian Federation also mourned the deceased, recalling his long contribution in serving equestrian sports and Qatari sports, and said in a statement: It is with great sadness and sorrow that we mourn the distinguished sports journalist Fayez Abdul Hadi, who spent nearly four decades serving equestrian sports, and was one of the most prominent people who accompanied the march of Qatari sports since his arrival in Doha in 1978.
Mr. Jaber Al-Harami, the late editor-in-chief of Al-Sharq newspaper, also mourned on his page on the And to the entire media family.
Journalist Khaled Jassim said on his page on the x platform: “May God have mercy on the journalist Fayez Abdel Hadi, the dean of Egyptian media professionals in Qatar, and may he rest in peace.”
He passed away after a long career in the Qatari sports media that extended for decades, leaving behind a good biography and great love in the hearts of everyone who knew him and worked with him.
