The Qatar Central Bank organized the annual reception for Qatari banks in the Thai capital, Bangkok, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, which will be held from October 12 to 18, 2026.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance, and His Excellency Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank, along with a number of board chairs, executives and representatives of the Qatari financial and banking sector.
High-level officials representing relevant international governmental and financial institutions also participated in the ceremony.
The reception, which the Qatar Central Bank is keen to organize annually, constitutes a platform to enhance communication and exchange views on economic and financial issues, and provide an opportunity for senior officials in Qatari, regional and international banks and decision-makers to discuss economic developments and current challenges.
The annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group are of special importance, as they bring together government officials and leaders of financial and economic institutions from various parts of the world to discuss the most prominent global issues, most notably the prospects for the global economy, ways to support economic development, and the challenges facing growth and financial stability.
