The club said, in a statement on its official website, that the tests conducted on the 32-year-old player revealed that he had suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of the right leg, in addition to a tear in the external collateral ligament of the knee, and he will undergo surgery in the coming days. .
The statement did not reveal the duration of the player’s expected absence from the team that is preparing to face its counterpart, Celta Vigo, in the tenth round of the Spanish League, scheduled for next Saturday.
The Spanish club also announced, via Facebook, that it had reached an agreement with the player to extend his contract with the team until June 2026.
In turn, the player, commenting on his injury, said via his Instagram account, “It has been confirmed that I have suffered a cruciate ligament tear, and I will have to undergo surgery and stay away from the field for a few months.”
