A new study indicates that appendicism eradication may reduce the risk of discounting ulcerative colitis in chronic bowel inflammatory patients.

Ulcerative colitis causes inflammation and ulcers in the large and rectal intestine, accompanied by diarrhea and abdominal pain. There is no cure for the disease. Its symptoms are afraid and return to appear frequently, and may negatively affect the quality of life.

The study published in the Lancet patrol of the diseases of the digestive system and the liver stated that it is believed that the appendix plays a role in all of this by producing inflammatory proteins that stimulate the body to produce a series of immune responses.

The study included 197 adult patients who all received usual medical care. Half of them underwent appendix surgery.

The researchers stated that a year later, relapse rates reached 36 percent in the appendicctomy group and 56 percent in the usual care group.

In addition, the number of patients in the appendicctomy group, who was later injured, decreased more than the disease, which requires treatment with vital factors.

There were post -surgery complications in five cases of the eradication group, of which two were ranked as two rituals.

After taking into account the individual risk factors for patients, the possibilities of relapse during the study decreased 35 percent with appendicism.

“This significant decrease indicates that appendix eradication may be an effective additional treatment option to maintain ulcerative colitis,” the researchers wrote.

An editorial published with the study indicates that a separate experiment is still ongoing, testing the usefulness of appendicism in patients who have not improved ulcerative colitis.
