The competitions of the third local race for purebred Arabian camels, the first event of the season (2024-2025), concluded yesterday, which was organized by the Camel Racing Committee for 10 consecutive days during the morning period on Al Sheehaniya and Busayer fields, amid large participation from fans of this traditional sport.
The final day of the race witnessed the holding of 11 rounds for Sun Al Hail and Zamul (open runs) over a distance of 6 kilometers, 7 of which were allocated to Al Hail and 4 to Zamul.
In the main open stunt competition, Nouf, King of Hajn Al-Shahaniya, won the title after coming in first place and covering the race distance in a time of 9.53.99 minutes, ahead of Sharara, King of Hajn Al-Shahaniya, who came in second place with a time of 9.53.99 minutes. With a time of 9:56.59 minutes, Ashwaq, King of Hajn Al-Shahaniya, came in third place with a time of 9:56.77 minutes.
On the other hand, “Mablish”, King of Hajn Al-Shahaniya, won the title of the first half of the main open Zamoul, recording a time of 10.05.78 minutes, and “Rabdan”, King of Hajn Al-Shahaniya, came in second place with a time of 10.07.89 minutes, while “Shawaf”, King of Hajn. Al Shahaniya is in third place with a time of 10.14.83 minutes.
As for the best race timings, it was achieved by Al Reem, owned by His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad bin Khalid bin Ahmed Al Thani, by winning the fifth round of tricks, recording a time of 9.49.91 minutes.
