It seems that the teams will be facing a compressed season in the Stars League, due to the matches being held on close days, and due to the international stops and the commitments of the first Annabi to the third stage qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The clubs are awaiting the Qatar Stars League’s announcement of the 2025 league match schedule, which will start early next August 9.
The Football Association’s Competitions Committee announced some time ago the local calendar, whether at the level of the Football Association or at the level of the Stars League Foundation, where the Federation organizes several tournaments, most notably the Emir Cup, the Second Division League, and the Olympic League, while the Foundation organizes several other tournaments, the most important of which are the Stars League, the Qatar Cup, and the QSL Cup. This matter requires the technical staff to be well prepared, especially on the physical level. It is true that the matches are expected to be held on our air-conditioned World Cup stadiums, but the training will be at high temperatures on the clubs’ stadiums.
The calendar included a proposal for a schedule of Stars League matches, and this proposal confirms that the league will be compressed, not only because of Annabi’s connections to either the World Cup or Gulf Cup qualifiers, but also to the clubs’ connections at the external level.
According to the proposed calendar, the first round of the Stars League will be held on August 9 and 10, and 6 days later, the second round will be held on August 16, 17, and 18, and only 4 days after that, the third round of the Stars League will be held on August 22, 23, and 24.
After the third round, the league will have its first pause for two weeks, and the international pause will be from September 2 to 10, when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will begin in the first and second rounds. During the first international pause, the QSL Cup tournament will start on August 30 and 31.
The Stars League will return in the fourth round on September 13 and 14 and will be suspended for a week due to the start of our teams’ matches in the AFC Champions League for the Elite and Champions League 2 from September 15 to 19.
The league will resume with the fifth round on September 20, 21 and 22, and four days later the sixth round matches will be held on September 26, 27 and 28. During this period, Qatar will host the AFC U-17 Cup qualifiers from September 21 to 29.
After the sixth round, there will be a long pause for the league from September 28, and it will resume on October 17 and 18 with the seventh round. This pause will include Al-Anabi’s participation in the third and fourth rounds of the World Cup qualifiers on October 10 and 15.
The third international stop will be during the period from November 11 to 19, and the fourth stop, which is a special stop not linked to the FIFA calendar, will be during the period from December 21 to January 3 for Al-Anabi’s participation in Gulf 26 in Kuwait. The last stop, which is an international stop, will be during the period from March 17 to 25. 2025.
