Al-Ahly Club announced today the appointment of Dutchman Patrick Garry Hordejak as technical director of the club’s youth and junior teams for one season.

Al-Ahly said in a statement that contracting with the Dutch coach comes within the framework of the club’s interest in the age groups and seeking to develop them in a way that achieves the goals of developing football at the club level in particular and Qatari football in general.

He stated that the decision to sign Hordjak came in cooperation with the Development Department of the Qatar Football Association.

The Dutchman has extensive experience spanning more than 25 years, including 15 years in the Arabian Gulf region with Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli and Al-Wahda clubs in Saudi Arabia, in addition to his work with Al-Ain and Al-Wasl in the Emirates, and he looks forward to achieving success in his next mission with Al-Ahli club.

For his part, Aref Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah, General Manager of Al-Ahli Club, appreciated the interest and cooperation of the Development Department of the Qatar Football Association in this regard, stressing that developing the youth sector is extremely important and receives great attention from the club’s management, and enhances the vision related to producing promising talents for the future.

It is noteworthy that the first football team of Al-Ahli Club currently occupies the second place in the Qatari League / Ooredoo Stars League / for the new season / 2024 – 2025 /, as it tied with Al-Wakrah with two goals each in the first round, then defeated Al-Gharafa in the second round with a clean goal, and defeated Al-Khor in the third round with two goals to one, and has 7 points in its balance, which gave it the second place in the league behind Al-Duhail, the leader of the tournament standings.
