Al Rayyan and Al Duhail tied 1-1 in the match that took place between them, today, at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, in the third round of the Qatari Football League (Doha Bank Stars League).
Al Rayyan took the lead through Brazilian Roger Guedish in the 5th minute, while Al Duhail equalized through Tahseen Mohammed in the 72nd minute.
Al Rayyan raised its score to the seventh point in second place temporarily, while Al Duhail raised its score to the fifth point in fifth place.
In the first minutes, Al Rayyan showed great offensive momentum and a clear desire to score early, threatening Al Duhail’s goal after less than two minutes through Brazilian Gabriel Pereira, who penetrated into the area and shot a strong ball that was cleared by the defense.
Barely completed the 5th minute before Al Rayyan opened the scoring with a corner kick taken by Pereira, which Jassim Jaber headed into the penalty area, and Brazilian Roger Guedes followed up and put it into the net, giving his team the early lead.
Al Rayyan’s advantage continued, as they almost scored a second goal through Pereira, who fired a powerful shot from the outskirts of the penalty area that went over the post in the 13th minute, before Roger Guidish’s header went over the crossbar in the 18th minute.
Al-Duhail’s performance improved over time, as it became more in possession of the ball, but it lacked offensive influence, in light of the solidity of Al-Rayyan’s back line, which began to rely on offensive transitions.
Al-Duhail delayed creating a real threat to Al-Rayyan’s goal until stoppage time, when Al-Moez Ali exchanged the ball with Omar Sekou, who faced the goal, but goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada excelled in defending his goal, depriving his opponent of a penalty in the minute (45 + 2), so the first half ended with Al-Rayyan leading with an unanswered goal.
Al-Duhail started the second half pressing, searching for an adjustment, which was almost achieved after he faced Al-Moez at the goal and shot a strong ball that the goalkeeper cleared in the 52nd minute, before Omar Sekou’s shot went past the post in the 60th minute.
Al-Duhail’s pressure resulted in the equalizer through substitute Tahseen Mohammed, who received a pass from Al-Moez Ali on the outskirts of the area, and shot a powerful ball into the net in the 72nd minute.
Al Duhail continued to have the advantage for the remainder of the match, but to no avail, especially in light of Al Rayyan’s defensive decline, so the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
