Apple has revealed its willingness to launch a new feature in its smart hours to alert high blood pressure, after obtaining official approval from the American Food and Drug Administration.
The company explained that the feature, which will be available with the upcoming Watchos 26 update within days, works through the visual heart sensor in the Apple watch to analyze the blood vessels’ response to the heartbeat, and by relying on the algorithms of machine learning, as the data decreased over a period of 30 continuous days before alerting the user in the event of monitoring indicators of high blood pressure.
Apple indicated that it relied in the development of this technology on training data from studies that included more than 100,000 participants, and its performance was verified in a clinical trial in which more than two thousand people participated.
The company also indicated that high blood pressure affects more than 1.3 billion adults around the world, expected that the new feature will contribute to notifying more than a million people who suffer from non -diagnosed blood pressure during the first year of launch.
The feature will be available in the watches of the new Apple Watch Ultra 3/ and Apple Watch Series 11/ in addition to providing Ultra 2/ and Apple Watch Series 9 and the following versions, provided that the service is presented in more than 150 countries.
The company warned against using the advantage for those under the age of 22 or for those with a previous diagnosis of high blood pressure or during pregnancy, stressing that it is an auxiliary tool and not a substitute for a direct medical diagnosis.
