Apple announced the start of rolling out the third beta version of iOS 27 to developers, which adds one of the most anticipated features to its smart assistant Siri, as users can now control the speed of its speech and the level of emotional expression in its voice, as part of the company’s efforts to make the assistant more natural and interactive by relying on generative artificial intelligence techniques.
The “Pace” and “Expressivity” options appeared in the first beta versions with the phrase “coming soon”, before becoming available for testing in the new version.
According to TechCrunch, this step comes as part of Apple’s strategy to redesign Siri to become more intelligent and personal, in light of the increasing competition with voice assistants supported by artificial intelligence, such as GBT Chat, which already provides wide options for customizing the style of speech and tone of voice.
The update allows users to choose multiple voices in different accents, then adjust the speed of Siri’s speech and the level of human expression in his voice, giving a more realistic experience that is closer to the style of human speech.
Apple had revealed these features during the WWDC 2026 conference, confirming that they are part of the new generation of Siri based on artificial intelligence and integrated into the iOS 27 system.
The new Siri allows users to start conversations in several ways, whether by speaking directly, typing by swiping down from the Dynamic Island, pressing the side button of the phone, or through the new independent Siri application.
These updates come within the framework of Apple’s drive to develop the capabilities of its smart assistant and keep pace with rapid developments in artificial intelligence technologies.
