The pace of dengue fever has accelerated throughout Bangladesh, as health officials reported the largest daily height in each of the deaths and cases of entry to hospitals as a result of the disease this year.
The General Directorate of Health Services said – yesterday, Sunday, that 12 people have died during the past 24 hours and transferred 740 new patients to hospitals due to the infection transmitted by mosquitoes. Dengue fever killed at least 179 people this year and hit nearly 42,000 throughout Bangladesh.
It is noteworthy that the symptoms of dengue fever are: the severe height of body temperature, limit pain, joints, headache, trembling, itching and rash that covers a large area of the skin, in addition to swelling of the lymph nodes.
The crisis is exacerbated this year due to the high cases of infection with the Xongonia virus, which rarely causes death, unlike dengue fever, but it often causes patients with severe joint pain and a chronic weakness.
The year 2023 witnessed the largest outbreak of dengue in Bangladesh, when 1705 people were killed and more than 321,000 were injured.
