The General Civil Aviation Authority, under the supervision of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), organized a free-route airspace workshop, from September 30 to October 2, at the Qatar Air Control Centre.
The workshop focused on discussing ways to support the implementation of free air space within the Middle East region.
During the same period, the Authority also hosted the first meeting of the Air Space Management Working Group, which constituted an important opportunity to hold bilateral meetings between neighboring countries and discuss issues of common interest in the field of civil aviation, such as enhancing air traffic service (ATS) in the Middle East region. .
It is noteworthy that the establishment of the Airspace Management Working Group came to address technical issues related to airspace and air traffic services within the Middle East region, and ways to confront all challenges and enhance coordination mechanisms for these aspects at the regional level.
In another context, the General Authority of Civil Aviation organized a training course on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Plan for International Aviation (CORSIA), in the city of Tehran in the Islamic Republic of Iran, during the period from September 29 to October 1.
This comes within the third phase of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) initiative to build capacity, training, and provide technical support to implement the Carbon Compensation and Reduction Plan for International Aviation (CORSIA).
The course was held at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Technology College of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, with the participation of 35 trainees from the organization and a number of operators of various Iranian airlines.
The session discussed the mechanism for implementing the CORSIA plan by the civil aviation authorities and aviation operators in Iran, which contributes to its implementation at the international level.
The organization of this session comes as a continuation of the prominent efforts of the State of Qatar since 2019 in supporting countries to implement international environmental standards. It also highlighted the pioneering role it plays in the field of protecting the environment and mitigating the environmental impacts resulting from the activities of the civil aviation industry and its continued support for all global endeavors and efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
