The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, hosted the third meeting of the GCC Patent Committee, within the framework of joint Gulf work in the field of patents, stimulating innovation, economic and knowledge growth, and protecting intellectual property in the GCC countries, in implementation of the decision of the Trade Cooperation Committee at its extraordinary meeting held in January 2021, which included the formation of a patent committee from officials of the competent authorities of the member states.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings held by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with the aim of exploring opinions, discussions and cooperation in promoting and developing joint intellectual property. It also supports the path of joint Gulf work in the field of patents to reach an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
The meeting addressed a number of topics that aim to comprehensively consider intellectual property files and adopt a unified and common Gulf position. It also highlighted future plans in the field of intellectual property and promoting patents in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
