Eltern magazine reported that conjunctivitis in children is a bacterial or viral inflammation of the conjunctiva, the mucous membrane that connects the eyeball and the eyelids.
The magazine concerned with family and children explained that the symptoms of conjunctivitis include redness of the eye accompanied by itching, with white secretions tending to yellow, in addition to sticking of the eyes after sleeping.
fever
Eltern added that conjunctivitis often heals on its own, noting the need to consult a doctor if there is no improvement after two to three days or if the inflammation is accompanied by fever.
Conjunctivitis is treated according to the cause. Treatment is done with eye drops containing antibiotics if bacteria are the cause of the infection. The eye should also be cleaned well, as the secretions are removed with an eye patch, wiping from the outside in towards the nose.
To prevent the transmission of infection, towels should not be shared with others, and hands should be washed well.
