Mowasalat “Karwa”, in partnership with Yutong HK International Limited, organized the Energy Saving Driving Competition 2024 at the Karwa Academy, for the second year in a row.
The competition was held with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of electric buses in public transport by adopting best operational practices and encouraging a culture of “improving performance through developing skills”.
This competition is designed to provide electric bus drivers at Mowasalat (Karwa) with the expertise and techniques needed to enhance energy efficiency and encourage sustainable practices, supporting Qatar’s environmental sustainability goals.
The competition focused on the theme of “Green Driving”, providing a platform for drivers to showcase their energy-efficient driving skills, which generally contributed to reducing emissions within the public transport system. Thirty electric bus drivers from Mowasalat participated in the competition, and the results were determined based on theoretical and practical assessments, which included vehicle inspection before starting the trip, a 40-kilometre energy-efficient driving test, emergency handling mechanisms, and accurate reverse parking skills. The participants’ skills were assessed through a comprehensive evaluation system, where theoretical skills and knowledge accounted for 30% and practical skills accounted for 70% of the total score.
Yesterday, the drivers who achieved the best performance across the various categories of the competition were honored, which included the first prize for the best participant, three prizes for the second place winners, three prizes for the third place winners, in addition to participation prizes for all other competitors.
Hosting this important event by Mowasalat “Karwa” and Yutong Company confirms the advanced capabilities and skills of drivers that enhance the future of sustainable transportation in the State of Qatar.
