The Museum of Islamic Art, in cooperation with the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, unveiled an inspiring exhibition entitled “Together We Are.” This special initiative celebrates the healing power that art has in the field of health care, and highlights the cultural ties between Qatar and Egypt.
The exhibition was opened today, Sunday, by Lulwa Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, and Amr El Sherbini, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Qatar.
The exhibition, which runs until November 7, includes more than 26 works of art created by young patients from the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Egypt. The paintings and drawings reflect the creativity and strength of children receiving cancer treatment, and each piece of art tells a special story full of hope, courage, and fertile imagination. , emphasizing the significant role of art in supporting the healing journey.
This initiative confirms the Museum of Islamic Art’s commitment to encouraging cultural dialogue and highlighting the importance of art in promoting mental health. For its part, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs made an effective contribution to achieving this cultural exchange, so young artists had the opportunity to travel to Qatar to display their creativity before an international audience.
An inspiring journey
For her part, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lulwa Al Khater, said, “Art can provide comfort, reassurance, and nourish a sense of connection, and this is a feature that really makes a real difference in people’s lives. My visit to the 57357 Cancer Hospital in Egypt last year was very inspiring for me. After I saw how they combined caregiving and creativity.”
She added, “We are grateful to the hospital workers, to the Qatar Museums Authority, and to everyone who participated in facilitating the delegation’s visit and the opening of this exhibition. We in the State of Qatar see this event as an additional step on the path to strengthening our fraternal relationship in all its human and artistic dimensions, not just political and economic, with Our brothers in Egypt.”

Salem Al-Aswad, Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art for Education and Community Awareness, also stressed the importance of this exhibition, and said: “We are proud to present the ‘Together We Are’ exhibition, which not only showcases the exceptional talents of young artists, but also highlights the power of creative expression as a means of healing. Through the support of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we were able to create an international platform that gives these children the opportunity to express their voices and stories.”
In addition to the exhibition, interactive workshops and activities will be held for visiting children, centered around healing through art and creative expression. These sessions will provide a supportive environment through which children discover their artistic skills, which helps them express their experiences and feelings in creative ways.
The “Together We Are” exhibition will attract a diverse audience of art lovers, healthcare workers and various segments of society, providing an opportunity to interact with the stories told by the artworks and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
