During the Global Forum for Businesswomen in Bahrain… Al-Ahmadani: A major Qatari development in the partnership between the public and private sectors

Qatar Chamber participated in the International Forum and Exhibition for Businesswomen, which is held in Manama and organized by the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Association on the occasion of the Association’s silver jubilee and continues until January 15th. The Chamber’s delegation to the forum was headed by Mrs. Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Qatari Businesswomen’s Forum.

Mrs. Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani participated in a discussion session within the forum’s activities entitled The Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Strengthening Economies. During the session, the transformative impact of the partnership between the public and private sectors on economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development at the regional and global levels was discussed, and how this partnership contributes. In creating job opportunities, promoting technological progress, and increasing global competitiveness, in addition to how to benefit from the strengths of both sectors to contribute to building flexible and prosperous economies capable of facing future challenges.
Al-Ahmadani said during her intervention in the session that the State of Qatar has given great attention to the issue of partnership between the public and private sectors due to its various economic benefits, especially within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, which recognizes that there is a shared responsibility between the government and the private sector to promote economic growth and diversify sources of income. And encouraging investments, noting that the State of Qatar has achieved great development in the issue of partnership between the two sectors, and has adopted the partnership as an effective means to benefit from the capabilities and expertise of both sectors, which contributes to the implementation of major projects that enhance Diversify the economy.
Al-Ahmadani noted Law No. 12 of 2020 regulating partnerships between the government and private sectors, which provides a supportive legislative environment for this partnership, and also provides a legislative framework that supports attracting foreign and local investments to implement innovative projects in various fields, and aims to consolidate partnership and cooperation between large, small and medium-sized companies with the government sector. Encouraging competition and innovation. She pointed out that as a result of these efforts, many successful projects were established through a partnership system between the two sectors in many sectors such as infrastructure projects, education, health, logistics areas, and others.
Mrs. Ibtihaj Al-Ahmedani explained that the future plans for the partnership between the two sectors in Qatar are based on strengthening the investment environment and diversifying the sectors included in these partnerships, in addition to expanding the scope of the partnership in new sectors such as food security, renewable energy, technology, innovation and artificial intelligence, in addition to health, education and energy, and focusing on Small and medium enterprises, which gives them the opportunity to grow and enhance their contribution to the national economy.
Al-Ahmadani expected that foreign investments would be attracted to partnership projects by providing incentives to foreign investors, such as providing legal guarantees and tax benefits, with the aim of attracting foreign capital to participate in partnership projects, noting that partnership between the public and private sectors is considered a strategic tool for achieving sustainable growth in Qatar. It enables the enhancement of efficiency and innovation, and provides an opportunity to exchange experiences between the two sectors, thus enhancing Qatar’s position as a leading investment destination at the regional and international levels.
