English: English football club Arsenal announced today the extension of the contract of its Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, which was scheduled to end this season.
Arsenal said in a post on its account on the social networking platform /X/: “We are delighted to announce that Arteta has signed a long-term contract with the club,” without revealing further details.
For its part, British media reported that coach Arteta will continue with Arsenal until 2027.
Arteta, 41, took charge of Arsenal in 2019 and led them to second place in the league twice, as well as winning the FA Cup in his first season with the club.
Arteta’s contract extension comes ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League table this season, after two wins and a draw, and will begin their Champions League campaign next week against Italian side Atalanta.
