The FIFA is studying the FIFA Club World Cup every two years starting from 2029, in a move that would press more on international calendar and provoke again the Premier League and UEFA.
The next version is scheduled to take place after 4 years, after the expanded first edition with the participation of 32 teams that America hosted this summer, but the International Federation is under pressure from major clubs to make the championship shift every two years. The British newspaper “The Guardian” said that Real Madrid raised this idea during talks with “FIFA” in Miami in June, and was supported by other clubs that did not qualify this year, including Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Naples.
Sources in “FIFA” say that there is no serious discussion to establish a copy in 2027, but the situation may change after 2029, with exploring the possibility of organizing another championship in 2031.
