The Qatar Stock Exchange index ended the last session of this week with a marginal loss of 0.14 percent, falling to the level of 10,441 points, recording a weekly decline of about 1.23 percent and losing the weekly balance of 129.56 points after achieving gains in the last week of 2024 by about 1.5 percent.
In this context, Mr. Ramzi Qasimia, the financial advisor, said in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA): that the index maintained the level of 10,400 points during the current week, as it closed above this level after touching during this week important support levels at 10,365 points.
Regarding liquidity, Qasimia indicated that the total trading in the first week of this year amounted to approximately 1.85 billion, with an average weekly trading value of about 370 million riyals.
Returning to today’s session, the financial advisor pointed out the variation in the performance of the leading stocks. Aride stock rose to record its highest levels since 2014, by more than 2 percent to close at 12.14 riyals, while QNB stock fell by approximately 0.8 percent and closed below 17 riyals, explaining This decline was partly due to the bank stopping repurchasing treasury shares pending the announcement of its results next week. Commercial Bank shares also declined by approximately 1.28 percent.
When referring to the sectoral performance, the financial advisor pointed out that the telecommunications sector index recorded the highest gains of approximately 4.37 percent as a result of the rise of Arad stock, and the services and consumer goods sector index recorded gains of approximately 0.65 percent, coinciding with the gains of Zad Company shares.
On the other hand, the real estate sector achieved the largest declines, declining since the beginning of the year by approximately 2.44 percent, followed by the financial sector by approximately 2 percent.
As for the stocks that rose the most, Zad Company shares recorded the highest gains during the current week, with an increase of 8.3 percent.
Qasimia pointed out that traders are looking forward to the beginning of the issuance of companies’ business results for the year 2024 during the next week, which QNB gives the indication of starting on January 13.
