Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi took part in the Paris 2024™ Olympic Games Torch Relay and carried the flame for the first time, 3 days before the opening of the Olympics.
The torch will continue its journey until the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in the capital, Paris, where the ceremony will be held on the banks of the Seine River on the 26th of this month.
Nasser Ghanem Al-Khelaifi expressed his pride in participating in carrying the Olympic torch as a representative of all Arabs, noting that participating in the event was a dream he had always had.
Al-Khelaifi stressed the great representation of the State of Qatar in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as well as the strong presence of athletes representing the French capital club in many sports.
Al-Khalifi carried the Olympic torch after consultations with the city’s mayor, Thomas Chazal, especially since most of the children in the area are loyal fans of Paris Saint-Germain. It is also expected that Sebastien Haller, the striker for the Ivory Coast national team and the German Borussia Dortmund team, will also participate in carrying the Olympic torch, following the difficult health conditions he went through in the recent period and his suffering from cancer, before Salif regained his brilliance on the football fields.
Among the names that participated in carrying the torch in the previous stages were Olympic champion in athletics Marie-José Perec, Olympic champion in judo David Douillet, chef Nina Metier, comedian Jamel Debbouze, Olympic champion in fencing and winner of five Olympic medals, Laura Flessel, as well as personalities outside of sports.
