Al-Adam shooters wrote a historical epic on the Lusail International Shooting Ranges and Halls, after imposing absolute and sweeping dominance over the competitions held yesterday by snatching seven colorful medals at once, three golds and four silvers, in a majestic artistic display that demonstrated the overwhelming height and steely dominance of Qatari shooting on the regional scene.
Al-Adam’s most notable achievement came in clinching the gold medal and first place in the men’s team dirt competition after an exceptional performance in which the team achieved a total of 354 dishes thanks to the trio consisting of Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, Angelo Scalzone and Saeed Abu Shareb, after they outperformed runner-up Kuwait with 344 dishes and the Emirates, which won the bronze, with 341 dishes.
Qatar’s women also won the silver medal in the women’s team competition with a total of 310 decisive dishes, through shooters Maitha Al-Binali, Kholoud Al-Khalaf, and Ray Basil, behind the champion Kuwaiti team with 320 dishes, and ahead of the third Kingdom of Bahrain, which won the bronze, with 298 dishes.
At the level of the men’s individual competitions for the trap competition, the champion, Al-Adam, Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, was crowned with the silver medal and second place after an exciting marathon confrontation that took the breath away in its final round, where Al-Rumaihi tied at the top of the qualifying and final standings with the Kuwaiti shooter, Abdul Rahman Al-Faihan, with a total of 120 according to each of them, so the two poles headed to a fierce shoot-off round, which Al-Faihan decided in his favor, scoring gold with a total. (26+23) shots, while Al-Rumaihi won silver with a total of (26+22) shots.
The brilliance was complete in the women’s category of the trap competition, as the champion of the best, Maitha Al-Binali, succeeded in grabbing the silver medal for the women’s individual, scoring 22 shots in the final round, behind Kuwaiti Shahad Al-Hawal, who won the gold.
The Qatari shooting continued its solo performance in the covered hall, winning two gold medals, as the champion, Doaa Habib, was crowned with the gold medal and first place in the women’s 10-meter air pistol individual competition, with a total of (231.2) points.
The female shooters of Al-Adam also won the gold medal and first place in the women’s team competition for the 10-meter air pistol competition, with a total of (1,669) points, through the champions, Duaa Habib, Aisha Al-Abdullah, and Salma Al-Mas, after a strong competition in which they deservedly outperformed the women of Bahrain, who ranked second (1,646) points, and the Emirates, which came third and won the bronze with (1,634) points.
In the men’s team competition for the same competition, the Al-Adam archers won the silver medal and second place with a total of (1,679) points, thanks to the strong performance of the champion archers, Khaled Al-Shaiba, Nasser Al-Sunaj, and Mohammed Al-Yafei, while the Saudi team won the gold medal. After the end of the competition, His Excellency Dr. Meshal Ibrahim Al-Nasr, President of the Qatar Archery and Archery Federation, accompanied by Mr. Ahmed Al-Anani, CEO of Cotinos, honored the champions and crowned the first-place finishers. Mohammed Al Rumaihi: Strong competition
Mohammed Al Rumaihi, the champion of shooting support, dedicated the achievement to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, and to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, expressing his great happiness at achieving team gold and individual silver in the trap competition, after a fierce competition with Kuwaiti and Emirati shooters, stressing at the same time that this coronation comes as a result of the efforts of the extended Qatari shooting family, led by H.E. Al-Rumaihi pointed out that the technical levels in the tournament were very strong, due to the presence of elite shooters from Qatar and Kuwait with previous international achievements, expressing his aspiration to continue winning gold in the mixed teams competition at the end of the competitions.
Jassim Shaheen Al-Sulaiti: The competitions were characterized by competition and excitement
Jassim Shaheen Al-Sulaiti, Secretary General of the Qatar Archery and Archery Federation, expressed his pride in the exceptional harvest and successive achievements achieved by archery archers in the Gulf Games competitions, stressing that winning seven new colored medals reflects the qualitative shift in Qatari archery.
