The German Hypertension Society said that high blood pressure poses serious risks to the eye, as it causes deterioration of blood flow, places a burden on the small blood vessels, promotes leaks and causes the formation of clots, which may lead to serious damage to the retina, and in the worst cases, it may reach the point of blindness.
blurred vision
The association explained that people with high blood pressure should consult an ophthalmologist immediately upon noticing any vision problems such as blurred vision and loss of visual field, in order to undergo timely treatment to avoid possible serious consequences.
It is noteworthy that normal blood pressure is less than 120/80 mm Hg, while blood pressure values of 140/90 mm Hg and above are considered very high.
It is worth noting that in addition to high blood pressure, high blood sugar and high cholesterol also pose risks to the eyes.
