Oreed Qatar, a subsidiary of the Oreed Group, a Qatari public shareholding company, and Karwa Transportation signed a memorandum of understanding aiming to modernize the public transport system in Qatar through new generation digital facilities that contribute to enhancing the digital transformation process in the country.

I want Qatar, in a statement today, explained that the memorandum of understanding is based on five main axes, which are: advanced cloud services, integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, Wi-Fi service for passengers, improving customer support, and joint marketing campaigns bearing the two brands.

The statement explained that, according to the agreement, “Areed Qatar” will provide its cloud solutions supported by NVIDIA technologies to Mowasalat Company, as this contributes to enhancing Mowasalat’s data storage capabilities, increasing the flexibility of operational systems, and improving the efficiency of information technology, while achieving a tangible reduction in operational costs.

The statement added that Internet of Things technologies will develop Mowasalat’s “Rahal” fleet management system, allowing real-time tracking of vehicles and carrying out proactive maintenance, which enhances operating efficiency, passenger safety, and reduces environmental impact.

The public will benefit from high-speed Wi-Fi service inside buses and stops, in addition to developing the call center and instant messaging services to provide faster and more efficient support to users.

On this occasion, Mr. Thani Ali Al-Maliki, Head of Corporate Services at “Areed Qatar,” said: “This partnership with Mowasalat represents a pivotal step in Qatar’s journey to build a smart state. By integrating advanced cloud infrastructure, Internet of Things systems, and modern communications systems, we are building a smart transportation network that reacts to changes immediately to improve the efficiency of operations and passenger experience and achieve new global standards for transportation within cities.”

For his part, Dr. Hamed Al-Shaibani, Executive Director of Communications and Information Technology Department at Mowasalat, said: “This partnership represents a qualitative step in Mowasalat’s digital transformation process. By integrating advanced cloud solutions and Internet of Things technologies, we enhance the efficiency and safety of our operational processes, and improve the users’ daily mobility experience.”

He added: “At Mowasalat, we affirm our commitment to employing modern technology to provide innovative, environmentally friendly and reliable transportation solutions that keep pace with Qatar’s vision towards a sustainable future and facilitated transportation.”
