The ninety-eighth meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Their Highnesses, Excellencies and Excellencies the Heads of the Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council was held yesterday at the Sheraton Doha Hotel.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, with the participation of Their Excellencies the Secretaries-General of the Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
During the meeting, the topics on the agenda were discussed, the most prominent of which was developing and strengthening the sports work system and hosting Gulf sports championships.
The meeting also discussed the reports of the advisory committees represented by the Sports Advisory Committee, the Women’s Sports Advisory Committee, the Players’ Advisory Committee, and the Paralympic Advisory Committee, in addition to the regulations for the Gulf Sports Games, and the recommendations of the work teams.
The meeting reviewed a report on the first Gulf Sports Games for Youth, which was held in the United Arab Emirates last month.
A number of recommendations related to the development of Gulf sports were also adopted, which will be submitted to the thirty-sixth meeting of the Council of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Excellencies, Presidents of the Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which will be held today, Wednesday.

For his part, His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, praised the results of the meeting. His Excellency said that the meeting came out with many recommendations that will be presented to the thirty-sixth meeting of the Council of Their Highnesses, Excellencies and Excellencies, Heads of the Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which will be held today under the chairmanship of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
Al-Buainain stressed the importance of the role of joint Gulf sports work in developing the sports movement in the GCC countries, pointing in this context to the launch of the first edition of the Gulf Youth Games, which was held last April in the sisterly United Arab Emirates, as this tournament constitutes an important station for preparing a new generation of athletes. Young Gulf Arabs for future participation in various sports.
He praised the great efforts made by the Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which resulted in many achievements at all levels during the past years, expressing his hope that Gulf athletes will achieve a good number of medals in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games, Paris 2024.
