The Qatari handball team will meet its Slovenian counterpart, tomorrow (Tuesday), in its first trial match at its external camp currently held in Slovenia, in preparation for participation in the 29th World Men’s Handball Championship scheduled to be held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway during the period from the fourteenth of this January until The second of next February.

The match is an important experience for the Qatari team against one of the most prominent European teams, before playing with the Algerian team next Thursday in its last test match in preparation for the World Championship.

The Qatari team played three test matches in Doha last week, where it played two matches with the Argentine team, winning the first (30-25) and repeating its victory in the second (30-27), while losing the third match to its Bahraini counterpart (27-28).

The Serbian coach of the Qatari national team, Veselin Vujovic, chose 20 players to represent the team in the World Championship, namely Rafael Capote, Amin Zakkar, Amir Denqir, Bilal Lepinka, Erhad Al-Yahozdić, Abdel-Razzaq Murad, Hamdi Ayyad, Yassin Sami, Youssef Ben Ali, Amin Qahis, Wilder Memjevic, Alaa Al-Din Al-Rashid, Nidal Issa, Wajdi Ibrahim, Mustafa Haiba and Zarko Markovic. And Franks Carroll And Abdul Rahman Tariq, Ahmed Maddi, and Anadine Sulakovic.

The Qatari team, which was placed in the third group by the draw alongside France, Austria and Kuwait, will begin its journey in the World Championship by meeting France on the opening day of the tournament on the fourteenth of January, then it will play its second match with Austria on the sixteenth of the same month, before concluding. Its group stage matches will be against Kuwait on January 18th.

The Qatari handball team is participating in the World Championship for the tenth time in its history, after Portugal 2003, Tunisia 2005, Germany 2007, Spain 2013, Qatar 2015, France 2017, Germany and Denmark 2019, Egypt 2021, Poland and Sweden 2023, where it achieved second place in the Qatar 2015 edition.
