Competitions for the second round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2 continue, amid anticipated confrontations during which the teams seek to enhance their chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds, while attention turns to the Arab meeting between Al Rayyan and Al-Taawoun Saudi Arabia, which brings together two teams aspiring to continue the continental competition, despite their mixed results at the beginning of the season.
Al Rayyan enters the confrontation with an advantage in terms of Asian results, after starting its campaign with an exciting victory over Al-Faisaly of Jordan with a score of 4-3, in a match that saw seven goals, to score the first three points in the group, while Al-Taawoun settled for a draw with Al-Nahda of Oman with a score of 1-1, while Al-Faisaly remained without a score after losing in the opening round.
Al Rayyan is in better condition at the local league level, after achieving a broad victory over Qatar Club, with a score of 3-0, in the fifth round of the Doha Bank Stars League. The victory raised Al Rayyan’s tally to 13 points, after achieving its fourth victory in the competition, continuing its presence among the leading teams.
Al Rayyan hopes to translate its domestic stability outside its homeland, and to continue its strong start in the Asian Championship, while Al Taawoun is looking to exploit the ground staff and the crowd, if playing on its home field, to score the three points and compete with Al Rayyan for the top spot in the group, in a confrontation that may have an important impact on the qualification calculations as the competitions progress.
