The social media platform Instagram has added a new feature that allows users to add a piece of music or their favorite song to their profile. The addition of this feature came in cooperation with the singer Sabrina Carpenter, who released a trailer for her song “Test” on her profile
On Instagram before releasing her latest album.
The tech website TechCrunch reported that users can add the song to their profile by clicking the “Edit Profile” button and searching for the name of the song they want in the Instagram music library. As with choosing a song to add to Instagram Reels or Instagram Stories, they can select a 30-second clip to add by moving the cursor left or right. Unlike the previous social media platform MySpace, which provided this feature, the song on a user’s Instagram profile does not play automatically when anyone opens the file. Rather, they must click the play button first.
The user can also delete or change the song at any time by using the “Edit Profile” button.
It is noteworthy that Instagram began testing the feature of adding music to personal profiles in 2022. The new feature aims to improve users’ profiles by allowing them to express their musical tastes and enhance their creative expression on their profile.
The new feature comes as users increasingly feel nostalgic for the days of old social networks like MySpace. New apps have emerged that are considered the modern alternative to MySpace, such as No Place, which relies on texting for communication, while Generation Z focuses on features such as making their profiles more fun and colorful.
