The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa” announced the provision of the “B Solar” service, which supports the country’s trend towards transitioning to renewable energy, and enables subscribers to install solar energy systems and benefit from the net billing mechanism.
Kahramaa stated through its official account on the “X” platform that this service allows the use of the produced energy to cover consumption, while the surplus is exported to the network and calculated in the subsequent bill.
Kahramaa indicated that the B-Solar service is an important step towards reducing carbon emissions, achieving a reduction in the value of electricity bills and saving money in the long term, in addition to enhancing reliance on clean and renewable energy sources in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qatar attaches particular importance to community awareness programs to encourage individuals and companies to adopt clean energy solutions, as the “BeSolar” service represents a step to encourage families and establishments to install small solar systems, while implementing the “net billing” mechanism that allows subscribers to sell surplus electricity to the national grid, which reduces consumption bills.
