The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa”, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, organized the Sixth Gulf Forum for Subscriber Services in the Electricity and Water Sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The forum witnessed large participation from stakeholders and service providers from various Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which reflects the importance of this forum in enhancing cooperation at the region level.
The forum aims mainly to exchange expertise and experiences in the field of electricity and water services and discuss the latest developments and challenges facing these two sectors in the Gulf countries. It also seeks to raise the level of quality of services provided to subscribers and improve their experience by adopting best practices that guarantee their right to obtain reliable services. And of quality.
In this context, Engineer Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Kahramaa, expressed the importance of this forum, as organizing this forum reflects the commitment of Kahramaa and the State of Qatar to strengthen cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in electricity and water services. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and will contribute significantly to improving the quality of electricity and water services. Services provided to subscribers and ensuring their sustainability in accordance with the highest standards.
Facing future challenges
Engineer Jaber Al-Nabit, Director of the Subscriber Services Department at Kahramaa, added that cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in this field enhances our ability to face future challenges, and confirms our joint commitment to achieving development and providing distinguished, high-quality services to subscribers.
Over the course of two days, the forum reviewed a group of working papers and projects related to smart meters, in addition to highlighting the most prominent successful experiences in the field of subscriber services that have been implemented in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
On the first day, two sessions were held, and in the first session, 4 working papers were discussed. The first was entitled Artificial Intelligence Experiences in Subscriber Services Applications, Phase One (Nafa), the second paper dealt with Artificial Intelligence Experiences in Customer Service Applications, and the third paper was entitled The Economic and Technical Impact on… Installation of small solar systems in the Sultanate of Oman. In the second session, the first paper was entitled Ensuring the Quality of Water Networks and Main and Sub-Meters, a working paper on Water First, the third paper was entitled Consumer Protection Policy for the Energy Sector, and the fourth paper dealt with the experience of Nama Dhofar Services Company in integrating basic services.
On the second day, the third session covered 4 working papers under the title of the Saudi Electricity Company’s experience in meter billing, the home visits service, the electricity application, the Voice of the Customer program, and the Authority’s new platform for subscriber services. The fourth and final session presented a working paper entitled prepaid policies and procedures, the experience of the Sultanate of Oman in the prepaid service and the project to convert to smart prepaid meter technology, and the third paper entitled the diversity of subscription systems.
The forum is considered an important step towards enhancing cooperation and joint efforts among member states with the aim of improving electricity and water services and ensuring their continuity for future generations, and reflects the countries’ commitment to providing reliable and effective services that meet the needs and expectations of subscribers.
