Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa” yesterday launched the activities of the Tarsheed Energy Efficiency Forum 2024, in the presence of a number of dignitaries and directors of affairs and departments in all sectors in the country.
Engineer Rashid Al-Rahimi, Director of Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department at Kahramaa, said that the forum confirms that our joint commitment to a sustainable future depends on enhancing energy efficiency and preserving natural resources. The change brought about by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed” was not just an improvement in numbers, but rather a step towards protecting our resources and ensuring a better future for future generations in accordance with Qatar Vision 2030.
Al-Rahimi stated that among the fruitful efforts achieved by “Tarsheed” during the year 2024 is reducing harmful carbon emissions by one million and two tons, and achieving financial savings amounting to about eight hundred and forty million riyals.
During his speech, Al Rahimi said: “Our journey towards sustainability was marked by important milestones that reduced our environmental footprint and enhanced the quality of life for our citizens. The specifications for water tools were adopted in the Gulf to achieve efficient water use, and the renewable energy strategy for the State of Qatar was launched. The esteemed Council of Ministers also approved the draft water law to preserve water resources and the draft law regulating district cooling services, and Kahramaa is one of the first institutions in preparing sustainability and environmental governance reports.”
Al Rahimi also stressed the importance of cooperation and solidarity between all sectors in the country to work to rationalize consumption by applying the latest advanced technologies to achieve a sustainable culture that will be a role model for future generations to create a future characterized by energy efficiency and commitment to sound environmental practices, so that consumption becomes an integral part of daily life.
The Tarsheed Energy Efficiency Forum 2024 is one of the basic elements for achieving sustainable development, and the Tarsheed Forum comes to be a distinguished platform to enhance this discussion and review various distinguished developments in the field of rationalization, enabling industry leaders and experts to cooperate and exchange ideas, in an effort to develop innovative solutions that contribute to building a future. The forum offers five main discussion sessions that focused on trends and challenges of energy efficiency, smart solutions, and systems. The first session began by talking about best practices for verifying savings in modernization projects.
