Visit Qatar, in partnership with Losail International Circuit, launched an exciting initiative at the historic Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. The centrepiece of the initiative was the branding of the iconic 40-metre Ferris wheel that dominates the circuit’s skyline above the Green Village area. The wheel proudly displays the Qatar Airways Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix 2024 branding, creating a stunning visual for visitors attending the Formula 1 British Grand Prix 2024.

As part of this partnership, Visit Qatar will be organising a grand raffle, inviting viewers to scan QR codes prominently displayed on the ferris wheel for a chance to enter the raffle, with the prize being a trip to the Qatar Airways Formula 1 Grand Prix 2024, including flights, accommodation and race tickets. Not only will the winners experience the thrill of Formula 1 racing first-hand, they will also get to experience Qatar’s rich culture and hospitality. From world-class souqs and museums to vibrant beaches and desert adventures, winners will discover and enjoy the diverse attractions that make Qatar a unique and unforgettable tourist destination. This promotion highlights the upcoming Grand Prix and invites travellers from around the world to experience Qatar’s attractions beyond the race track. Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai, President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation and Chairman of Losail International Circuit, was at Silverstone Circuit for the occasion. During his visit, Al Mannai participated in fruitful meetings with prominent figures in the world of motorsport to enhance cooperation and explore future opportunities. Al Mannai also met with Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the International Automobile Federation, and Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, where they discussed the growing importance of the Qatar Grand Prix on the Formula 1 calendar and potential areas for further cooperation between Formula 1 and Losail International Circuit.
Al Mannai also held a fruitful meeting with Susie Wolff, Director of the Formula 1 Academy, where their discussion focused on developing young talent in motorsport, with a focus on increasing diversity and providing opportunities for aspiring female drivers in the region. They also discussed strategies to increase female participation in motorsport, including potential mentorship programmes, local initiatives and increasing the visibility of female drivers during race weekends. Ways to enhance cooperation between Losail International Circuit and the Formula 1 Academy through social engagement and media activities were also discussed, with an opportunity to implement these initiatives when the Academy’s test events are held in Qatar in November this year. The upcoming Formula 1 Academy race at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix was also highlighted as an important step towards achieving future goals, and they also explored various ways to enhance its impact and inspire the next generation of female drivers.
These meetings and the discussions that take place therein confirm Losail International Circuit’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in the global motorsports scene and strengthening relations with key stakeholders in this field.
