The Qatar Central Bank was keen to direct banks to support liquidity in ATMs, whether for Eid scrap or regular ATMs spread throughout all regions of the country, especially the machines available in commercial complexes, malls and popular markets in central Doha and where workers are located.
Alternative channels
For its part, it called on banks to rely on alternative channels during the holiday days, particularly mobile applications and bank websites, to complete banking transactions, to save effort on customers and save time instead of coming to the bank in person after the holiday.
The banks confirmed the provision of all the services they provide on alternative electronic channels, whether banks’ mobile applications or banks’ websites, while taking all safe precautions that ensure the completion of banking operations without any risk, with speed in executing customers’ electronic requests.
Banks operating in Qatar are witnessing a great demand for the electronic services they have provided during the current period with the start of the holiday season.
For their part, banks have enhanced and supported the liquidity available in ATMs, to cope with continuous withdrawals. Some Gulf currencies are also witnessing demand during the current period, including the Saudi riyal and the Emirati dirham, to finance Hajj and travel operations abroad.
A number of bank and branch managers confirmed that the current period is witnessing an increase in demand for banking services, including transfers, purchasing currencies from banks, and increasing cash withdrawals from ATMs. Therefore, banks have prepared to facilitate individuals’ transactions, with a focus on alternative channels during this period for completing banking transactions, as bank applications have been developed on mobile devices to provide all banking services and transactions to facilitate customers, starting from paying installments, to obtaining various financing and obtaining a check book.
ATMs in all regions were also supported with additional liquidity to meet the increasing demand and provide customers’ cash needs, especially in areas that witness a demand for the use of these devices, such as commercial centers, malls, and market areas.
