Qatari champion Abdullah Shaheen Al Kaabi qualified to participate in the 2025 Ironman World Championship in the French city of Nice as the first Qatari athlete to qualify for the World Championship, after he shone exceptionally in the Japan Championship, achieving 14th place after a heroic performance amidst wide international participation in Japan. This was among more than 1,000 participants in the Hokkaido region.
The Japan race included three difficult sports that our distinguished champion Abdullah Shaheen Al Kaabi participated in. The Ironman race included swimming for a distance of 4 km, a cycling race for a distance of 90 km, and a running race for a distance of 42 km.
In a special statement to Al Arab from Japan, our champion Al Kaabi confirmed that he is very happy to honor Qatari sports in the Japan race, and to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in France next year, a participation for which I will prepare well, God willing. For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, congratulated our champion Abdullah Shaheen Al Kaabi.
