Polish Aleksandra Miroslaw, ranked first in the world, won the gold medal in the women’s speed climbing competition at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games / Paris 2024 / on Wednesday.
Miroslav narrowly beat China’s Lijuan Deng, who took the silver medal, while Poland’s Alexandra Kaluka took the bronze after beating Indonesia’s Rajia Salsabela in the third-place match.
Miroslav, 30, was a strong candidate to win the speed category, which is included in the Olympic programme for the first time, especially after she broke her own world record on Monday by climbing the 15-metre wall in 6.24 seconds.
