Qatar Airways has announced the arrival of its first aircraft to Hamburg Airport in Germany, inaugurating its daily direct flights from Hamad International Airport in Doha to Hamburg, its fifth destination, after Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, thus enhancing the Qatari carrier’s contribution to meeting the growing demand for travel to Germany.
The new flights to Hamburg will strengthen Qatar Airways’ network of more than 170 destinations worldwide, and will allow passengers from northern Germany to connect to various parts of the world via Doha. In addition, Qatar Airways’ new flights will provide a seamless travel experience for passengers from around the world to Hamburg.
The launch of this new route will also contribute to strengthening economic and trade relations between Northern Germany and Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The flights are expected to achieve an 11 percent growth in the air cargo sector in Hamburg compared to last year.
The inaugural flight was welcomed at Hamburg Airport by Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, Mr. Ali Al Buenain, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Berlin, Mr. Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, His Excellency Mr. Lothar Freischlader, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Qatar, as well as Mr. Christian Künsch, CEO of Hamburg Airport, and Dr. Malte Heine, CEO of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
