Qatar Airways has announced the expansion of its network of destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after resuming flights to the city of Abha, as the national carrier will operate two flights per week to Abha International Airport starting from January 2, 2025. The carrier will also increase the number of flights to NEOM from two flights to four flights per week during the winter season.
This step comes to provide passengers with more travel options through Qatar Airways’ growing network of more than 170 global destinations and through Hamad International Airport, the best airport in the world according to the Skytrax World Awards 2024 vote.
Abha, Qatar Airways’ 11th destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is known for its stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage.
The resumption of direct flights to the Kingdom strengthens the presence of the Qatari carrier, which currently operates flights to AlUla, Dammam, Qassim, Jeddah, Medina, Neom, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif and Yanbu. With more than 140 weekly flights to the Kingdom, Qatar Airways reaffirms its commitment to the Saudi travel market and enhancing air connectivity in the region.
In addition, Qatar Airways is offering passengers travelling to NEOM a unique experience in the “land of dreams”, where they will live and work in harmony with nature. Qatar Airways currently operates two flights a week to NEOM, and starting this winter, four flights a week will be operated to the region.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to resume direct flights to Abha and increase flights to NEOM, further strengthening its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This step also underscores our unwavering commitment to connecting our passengers to their favourite destinations in Saudi Arabia. We look forward to welcoming all passengers on board to enjoy our outstanding service both in the air and at our home and hub, Hamad International Airport.”
