The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transportation, chaired the meetings of the twenty-fifth session of the Transport and Logistics Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which was held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the participation of representatives of the ministries of transport and communications in the Arab countries, the Arab League, the World Bank, and private organizations. Transportation and logistics.
The meeting reviewed the recommendations made by the Committee at its twenty-fourth session to the Executive Secretariat of ESCWA, as well as emerging developments in the transport and logistics sectors in the region, in addition to discussing strengthening the role of cybersecurity in the transport sector, as well as discussing issues of transport and food security, and the impact of the Red Sea crisis on the economies of the region. Arabic.
During the meetings, the committee was also briefed on the ongoing negotiations regarding the negotiable shipping document, which is the first document in the world covering international land transport, with the aim of forming a unified Arab position on the negotiations.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Hamad Ali Al Marri, Director of the Land Transport Licensing Department at the Ministry of Transportation.
