Qatar Chamber participated in the activities of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, which was held on September 25 and 26 in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, under the slogan: “Rebuilding confidence in a fragmented world: The South Caucasus is a pillar of global interconnection and investment stability,” with the participation of government officials, investors, and representatives of financial institutions and international companies.
The Chamber was represented at the forum activities by Mr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba, Second Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber, and His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ahbabi, Member of the Board of Directors.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Chamber delegation held a group of meetings and meetings with a number of entities and institutions in the Republic of Azerbaijan, to review ways to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation held a meeting with the National Union of Employers’ Organizations in the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK), in the presence of the President of the Union, Mr. Mammad Musayev, and Mr. Ziya Hajili, Secretary-General.
The meeting discussed strengthening economic and trade cooperation relations between the two countries, and reviewed a number of ready investment opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, banks, and others.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of signing a cooperation agreement between the two sides, which contributes to strengthening communication between Qatari business owners and their Azerbaijani counterparts, and introducing the investment opportunities available in both countries.
The Chamber delegation held a meeting with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan “AZPROMO”, in the presence of Mr. Yusuf Abdullahyev, Executive Director of the Agency.
The meeting discussed areas of cooperation between Qatari and Azerbaijani companies in a number of sectors, encouraging the entry of Azerbaijani products into the Qatari market, in addition to exploring new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.
The delegation also held a meeting with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (KOBiA), in the presence of Mr. Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Agency’s Board of Directors.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of the joint Qatari-Azerbaijani Business Council in strengthening cooperation relations between business owners from both countries, and increasing mutual visits between delegations of business owners in the two countries to explore available cooperation opportunities and enhance trade and investment partnerships.
Mr. Orkhan Mammadov said that the Joint Business Council represents an important platform for enhancing cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, noting that the next meeting of the Council will be held in Azerbaijan to discuss areas of cooperation and partnership between the two sides.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Chamber delegation held a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Nidal Al-Shaer, Minister of Economy and Industry of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen relations at the private sector level and attract Qatari investments to Syria in a number of important sectors.
For his part, Mr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba said that Qatar Chamber’s participation in the forum reflects its keenness to enhance communication with the Azerbaijani business community and explore available cooperation and investment opportunities, noting the importance of such forums in opening new horizons for the private sector and strengthening partnerships between Qatari and Azerbaijani companies.
He added that the meetings held by the chamber delegation with a number of Azerbaijani institutions and economic entities contributed to identifying areas of cooperation of common interest, stressing the importance of continuing communication and exchanging visits between business owners in a way that supports the growth of trade and investment relations between the two countries.
In turn, Mr. Muhammad bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi said that the forum formed an important international platform for dialogue on the future of investment and economic partnerships, and provided an opportunity to learn about economic and investment developments in Azerbaijan and the region, and discuss opportunities for cooperation in a number of sectors.
He added that participation in the forum provided an opportunity to communicate with a number of Azerbaijani institutions and companies, and learn about available investment opportunities, which could contribute to developing new partnerships between the private sectors in the two countries.
The forum formed an international platform for dialogue on the future of investment and economic partnerships, and discussed a wide range of issues and opportunities related to enhancing economic growth, attracting investments and developing projects.
It also focused on the transformations taking place in the global economy, supply chains, trade and energy routes, as well as investment opportunities and economic partnerships.
The forum’s program included dialogue sessions on industrial platforms and free economic zones, the Middle Corridor, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, financial cooperation, green transformation, agribusiness, vital raw materials, as well as infrastructure, tourism and investment in human capital.
The forum aims to discuss investment opportunities, strengthen economic partnerships, attract investments, develop joint projects, and transform initiatives into tangible cooperation opportunities.
