The Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration at the Qatar Chamber announced the start of implementation of the new arbitration rules issued by it during the year 2024.
His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani, a member of the Center’s Board of Directors for International Relations, said that at the beginning of the year 2025, the Center began implementing these new rules, which will contribute to facilitating and facilitating arbitration procedures at the Center, and they are also in line with the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). “And the international principles applicable in commercial arbitration and international arbitration institutions.
His Excellency pointed out that the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration received a number of cases during the current month in accordance with the new procedures and rules, noting that the total number of arbitration cases received by the Center during the past year 2024 amounted to about 86 cases, which represents the largest number of arbitration cases that the Center received in the year. He also noted that the Center provided technical and logistical assistance to a number of free arbitration cases, pointing out that the Center will continue to work to provide support for all free and institutional arbitration cases based on its role and societal responsibility in order to improve the arbitration process and procedures within the State of Qatar.
For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Shahbek, Secretary-General of the Center, confirmed that the Center’s work team is keen to follow up on the cases in a great manner, and has the capabilities and technical and scientific experience that enabled it to raise the efficiency of work and performance at the Center during recent times, which was reflected in the confidence of those dealing with the Center.
