His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Maliki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Her Excellency Ms. Ibtisam bint Ahmed Al-Furujiyah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion in the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, chaired the work of the Qatari-Omani-Qatar Investment Forum, which was held yesterday, Thursday, in Doha.
The meeting witnessed the participation of representatives of government agencies, a number of senior businessmen, investors, and heads and representatives of major Qatari and Omani companies specialized in various fields. The meeting is an important step towards enhancing and developing joint intra-investments, and exploring promising opportunities for cooperation in vital sectors of common interest. The holding of the forum comes within the framework of the two sides’ emphasis on the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in a way that meets the aspirations of the two leaderships and the two brotherly peoples, and pushes relations towards greater integration and prosperity, in line with the two countries’ visions for a more interconnected and developed future.
In his opening speech, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry stressed that the relations between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman are based on historical foundations and a common destiny, noting that the meeting represents an important platform for exploring investment opportunities and discussing areas of cooperation that serve the common interests of the business sector and companies in the two countries, with a focus on Stimulating the flow of mutual investments and strengthening partnerships in vital sectors. His Excellency explained that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached $1.2 billion during the first seven months of 2024, compared to $1.4 billion in 2023, expressing his aspiration for the pivotal role of the Qatari and Omani private sectors in increasing this exchange and increasing its volume. At the end of his speech, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry called on the business sectors of the two countries to invest in the opportunity of holding this forum to develop strategic partnerships that serve common goals and meet future ambitions.
During the forum, the advantages of the business environment in the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman were highlighted, in addition to holding a number of bilateral meetings between representatives of the Qatari private sector and a number of Omani companies, during which opportunities for cooperation in promising sectors such as logistics services, food security, and tourism were discussed. And discussed mechanisms for establishing new investment partnerships that serve the aspirations of the two countries.
