Qatar League: Al Gharafa acquires the services of Al Rayyan striker

Al-Gharafa Club officially announced today the signing of Spanish striker Rodrigo Moreno from Al-Rayyan Club until the end of the 2024-2025 season.

The club stated in a post on the “X” platform that Moreno, 33 years old, has officially signed his transfer contract to the team, placing the number 10 that he will wear with Al-Gharafa during the current season’s competitions.

Rodrigo Moreno moved to Al Rayyan in July 2023, coming from English club Leeds United, which he joined in the summer of 2020, coming from Spanish club Valencia.

The player participated in 17 matches with Al Rayyan last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists.

The player, who won the European Nations League title with the Spanish national team in 2023, has previously played 28 international matches, the last of which was against Italy in the semi-finals of the European Nations League 2023, and he also scored 13 goals in the English Premier League the season before last.

Moreno began his career with the youth team at Celta Vigo, then with Real Madrid’s second team (Castilla), before moving to Benfica in Portugal in 2010, with whom he won the league title in 2014, and then to Valencia in Spain in the same year.

Al Gharafa will play in the AFC Champions League for the elite on September 16th against the host Esteghlal of Iran, before hosting Al Ain of the UAE at Al Bayt World Cup Stadium on October 1st, then hosting Al Wasl of the UAE at the same stadium on the 22nd of the same month.

Al Gharafa will head to Tehran on November 4 to face Persepolis, before returning to host Saudi Al Nassr at Al Bayt Stadium on the 25th of the same month, then face Saudi Al Hilal away in Riyadh on December 3, before returning to Doha to face Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor on February 4, 2025, and then concluding the league stage by meeting Saudi Al Ahli on the 17th of the same month.
