Al Rayyan coach, Swedish Boya Espagi, confirmed his team’s readiness to face Umm Salal at the start of the two teams’ journey in the Qatar Football League / Ooredoo Stars League / 2024-2025, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
The coach said in a statement today that the team has completed its preparations for the new football season and is looking forward to a good start against Umm Salal, stressing that Al Rayyan had a good preparation period in the Netherlands camp, during which it played various friendly matches.
Espagi praised the level of Umm Salal team, stressing that it had a good performance last season, and was a tough competitor, given that it had a distinguished group of players in defence and attack, and he expected the confrontation to be difficult and strong between the two sides.
Regarding taking on the task of training Al Rayyan, he said that it is a big challenge for him, and during his new experience he seeks to do his utmost to achieve the ambitions of the club and its fans by competing in various championships, expressing his happiness with the players’ desire to develop and work hard, which will be the team’s weapon to achieve its ambitions and goals.
Espagi pointed out that Al Rayyan’s squad is almost complete, and that the team has a good list of players.
For his part, French coach Patrice Carteron, coach of Umm Salal, stressed the importance of the match against Al Rayyan, which he described as difficult and strong, at the beginning of the two teams’ journey in the competition.
He said in a statement that Umm Salal has prepared well for the league championship and the rest of the season’s competitions, expressing his hope to present a good level during the first match against Al Rayyan, and to continue the hard work that the team did last season.
He stressed that Umm Salal is looking forward to presenting a strong match to obtain a positive result, and that the players will do their utmost to achieve victory.
Regarding his expectations for the competition in the current season, he said that he hopes that they will have the same quality of performance, and provide the best level in all matches, and deal with the small details, while trying to focus on reducing errors in the matches, so that the team can guarantee winning the largest number of points.
