Al-Wakra Club announced today the appointment of Ali Rahma Al-Marri as coach of the first football team in the next phase, succeeding the Spaniard Miguel Angel.
Coach Ali Al-Marri had previously supervised Al-Wakra’s training at the end of last season, after he was assigned to head the technical staff, succeeding the Spaniard Jose Murcia, where he led the team to win the Qatar Cup title for the first time in the club’s history after winning the final against Al-Rayyan by one goal to none, at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Al-Marri has a good coaching record after being appointed as assistant coach to Spaniard Marquez Lopez when he took over the technical staff of Al-Wakrah before being appointed coach of the Qatari national team.
Al-Marri will officially supervise Al-Wakrah’s training again, starting with the team’s match against Al-Rayyan, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, in the fifth round of the Qatar Football League / Ooredoo Stars League.
Al Wakra’s former coach, Miguel Angel, took over the team’s leadership before the start of the current season, but the team’s results under his leadership were not up to expectations, after the team suffered a heavy loss by three clean goals against Iranian Tractor in the first round of the AFC Champions League 2, so his contract was terminated.
Al-Wakra occupies the seventh place in the overall standings of the Qatari league clubs with 5 points, after four rounds, from a win, a draw and two losses.
