Qatar hosts a wide variety of events during the month of September, including a rich array of entertainment shows and cultural experiences such as art exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts and sporting tournaments.
The Qatar Calendar of Events is a comprehensive guide that allows visitors and residents of Qatar to learn about events taking place across the country, providing information on the dates, locations and nature of these events. This monthly publication is the result of collaboration between Visit Qatar and several partners and stakeholders, as it helps promote these partners’ events and festivals and present them to a wider audience through a comprehensive marketing approach, including a website, mobile application, social media channels and much more.
“September in Qatar will witness a rich calendar of cultural, artistic and sporting events that visitors and residents alike can enjoy. Through successful collaboration with partners, Qatar’s events calendar offers a diverse range of events and shows that cater to all tastes, ages and budgets,” said Sheikha Noor Abdullah Al Thani, Head of Events and Festivals at Qatar Tourism.

Immersive art galleries
The exhibition: Cherishing the Past to Celebrate the Future: Qatar’s Vision for Education is currently being held at Liwan, Design Studios and Labs, and offers a captivating narrative that explores the unique journey of girls’ education in Qatar, from 1938 to 2006. The exhibition highlights the profound impact that the establishment of Doha Girls School, the first girls’ school in Qatar, was having on generations of women, founded by Amna Mahmood Al Jaidah, a pioneer of girls’ education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art also presents for art lovers “Mohamed Melehi: A Postcolonial Art Giant in Morocco,” which highlights the work of the Moroccan artist, who is considered one of the most important artistic visionaries of the postcolonial era.
The Museum of Islamic Art is also hosting the exhibition “In the Footsteps of Ara Guler: A Photographer’s Imprint”, which is also currently running as part of a special collaboration between the Ara Guler Museum in Istanbul and Qatar Museums, and offers a glimpse into the life of the world-famous photographer Ara Guler. The exhibition “Space Art: Painting the Universe” continues until 20 September at the Al Thuraya Planetarium in Katara Cultural Village, and is an ideal destination for astronomy enthusiasts and lovers.
For hunting and falconry enthusiasts, the 8th edition of S’hail – Katara International Hunting and Falcon Exhibition returns this month from September 10 to 14 at Katara Cultural Village. S’hail is one of the largest international exhibitions specializing in falcons, featuring a variety of activities and events such as falcon auctions and display windows. The exhibition also includes a special pavilion for hunting-related handicrafts and falconry supplies.
From September 12 to 14, Geekdom in Lusail Avenue will host the Geek End exhibition, which is back with a bigger and better version than its predecessors, thanks to its theatrical performances, science fiction segments, a Geek End shopping area, a gaming area, and e-sports tournaments, making for a weekend full of fun and artistic creativity.
CONTECH EXPO 2024: Modern Construction Technology and Services Exhibition will be held from 16 to 18 September at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), and is organized by Next Fairs Conferences and Exhibitions. This is the first edition of the exhibition launched by the Public Works Authority. The exhibition is a platform to introduce the latest technologies, research and innovations in construction and building works that will improve productivity rates, reduce environmental impacts, enhance quality, reduce costs and waste, and rationalize energy consumption.
Coffee lovers will be treated to a new edition of the Doha International Coffee Exhibition 2024, which will be held from September 26 to 28 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The exhibition has become the most prominent event in the global coffee industry for more than a decade, and it has become attracting the world’s most prominent coffee suppliers. It also highlights the coffee trade and its innovation aspects.
In order to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Al Markhiya Gallery, in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent, is organizing a visual arts exhibition entitled “The Sky Above Gaza…Imagined” from September 17 to November 7 at its headquarters in Mathaf – Artists’ Residence. The exhibition will include the works of more than 50 artists from Qatar, Palestine and a number of Arab countries, who draw inspiration in their works from the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of Gaza.
Specialized exhibitions for all tastes
The Rawdat Al Malki Exhibition will continue until September 4 at the Qatar National Convention Center, and is a great destination for fashion lovers. The Lawazem Family Shopping Exhibition will continue until September 7 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, offering visitors a variety of international products from different countries, such as women’s, men’s and children’s clothing. It also offers abayas, jalabiyas, decorative accessories, perfumes, home supplies and food supplies. The Family Shopping Exhibition will be held from September 22 to October 8 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, offering a variety of fashion products, perfumes and food products from different countries.
Exciting theatrical performances
The 70 Years of Theatre – Doha Players concert will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel’s Jiwana Ballroom on September 19 and 20, where the renowned theatre group, Doha Players, will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the theatre movement in Qatar with a gala dinner, live entertainment and an art exhibition. Theatre lovers in Qatar will also be treated to the premiere of the musical comedy, Hamra Street, from September 26 to 28 at the U Venue Theatre. The show will feature renowned artists Badih Abu Shakra and Yvonne Al Hachem, in addition to a group of other talented theatre actors. The play Hind in the Land of Sindh will also be staged from September 26 to 28 at the Katara Drama Theatre, featuring a group of prominent theatre actors in Qatar who will tell the story of Hind and her adventures during her journey and search for her feline friends.
Fun musical evenings
Qatar National Library will host a musical evening entitled “Philharmonic at the Library: Arabian Nights from North Africa” on September 12, as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. This enchanting musical evening will present to the audience a selection of the most beautiful and famous Arabic melodies and tunes from North Africa through Mayyas Al Yamani and the Maqam Ensemble.
Classical music lovers can also enjoy another musical evening featuring a selection of Richard Strauss’ masterpieces, titled “An Evening with Richard Strauss: Death and Drama” at the Qatar National Convention Centre on September 13 from 7:30pm. Conducted by Maestro Elias Grande, the programme includes three of Strauss’s best poems. The events also include the “Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra presents Berlioz’s Symphony of Fantasy” on September 17 from 7:30pm at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The orchestra will also be conducted by Maestro Elias Grande, and the performance will feature three compositions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Audiences will be treated to an evening full of stories told in an innovative way through musical performances.
The musical evening “Russian Greats: Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky” will kick off on September 22, starting at 9:30pm at the Opera House in Katara Cultural Village, offering audiences a range of musical works that reflect the atmosphere of Russian romanticism in the late 19th century. Maestro Kamaleddin Orenbayev and pianist Fazlidin Housanov will perform. In the evening “Heroes and Villains” which will start at 7:30pm in Hall 3 of the Qatar National Convention Centre on September 29, Maestro Frank Strobl will present the exciting journey of cinema’s greatest heroes and villains through orchestral performances of famous film music.
Art workshops
The MIA lobby will host an art workshop titled “Family Day: Geometric Shapes” on September 14, where visitors can learn more about the beauty of these geometric shapes with their families. City Centre Mall will host a “Back to School” event until September 28, where children will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities such as crafts, colouring, balloon twisting and more. The MIA will also host the “Diwani Calligraphy Workshop – Intermediate Level” from September 7 to 28, led by Hussein Ammar Ahmed.
Sports tournaments and competitions
Education City Stadium continues to host its monthly Ladies Night, a dedicated fitness space for women only. This month’s event takes place on September 4, and attendees will enjoy HIIT classes, networking sessions and a range of sports.
The Sealine Challenge 2024 race will also be held on September 28 at Sealine Beach, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation. This year’s race will see 400 runners of both genders and age groups take part in various distances. Both runners and the public will enjoy a unique experience.
The QTerminals Qatar Classic Squash Championship will be held at the end of the month from September 28 to October 5 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, attracting squash fans.
