A Qatari delegation, led by representatives from Qatar Tourism and the Ministry of Interior, and members of the Permanent Committee for the Management of Sea Ports and Passports, Qatar Ports, and the General Authority of Customs, concluded a visit to Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat on November 27 and 28.
The visit took place in coordination with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, where the delegation held high-level meetings with Omani officials, including representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Transport, the Royal Oman Police, and the port operator (ASYAD). These meetings provided a platform to explore ways of cooperation, exchange best practices in logistics and port management, and discuss strategies to enhance the marine tourism experience.
Commenting on the visit, Mr. Omar Al Jaber, Head of the Tourism Development Sector at Qatar Tourism, said: “Our visit to Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat was an opportunity to communicate with our Omani counterparts and exchange knowledge in-depth in key operational areas including immigration and customs procedures, terminal logistics, and passenger services. “By exchanging experiences and standardizing best practices, we affirm our commitment to improving the cruise experience in Qatar and enhancing regional cooperation to achieve sustainable growth in the cruise tourism sector.”
During the discussions, the Qatari delegation addressed key operational areas, including immigration and customs procedures, terminal operations and logistics, and the roles and responsibilities of tour operators and ship agents. The attendees also discussed ways to enhance cooperation, consolidate bilateral relations, and develop the cruise sector in both countries.
The cruise sector in Qatar has become a major focus of Qatar’s tourism strategy, achieving consistently strong growth rates in recent years. During the 2024-2025 season alone, Doha Port is expected to receive more than 90 cruise ships, as Qatar Tourism plans to continue strengthening its cooperation with global cruise lines and ports, which is considered an essential element to drive the future growth of the tourism sector in Qatar and contribute to the efforts to diversify the Qatari economy. .
