Qatar Tourism announced that the number of international visitors to the State of Qatar will exceed five million visitors in the current year 2024.

Qatar Tourism confirmed, in a statement today, that this achievement reflects the development in the country’s tourism sector, which recorded a growth of 25 percent compared to the year 2023, which strengthens the position of the State of Qatar as a leading global tourist destination.

His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism, said: “The number of visitors exceeding five million is a prominent achievement for the State of Qatar, and serves as an embodiment of achieving Qatar’s vision for tourism, which is to consolidate Qatar’s position as one of the world’s leading family tourism destinations.”

The President of Qatar Tourism pointed out that the growth achieved by 25 percent on an annual basis, in addition to the exceptional sales that approached about 10 million hotel nights, is evidence of the effectiveness of the strategy and the efforts made by the partners, pointing out that “this achievement is not just a celebration.” “What has been achieved represents a foundation for future growth, as we continue to provide exceptional experiences and services in all tourist destinations to every visitor.”

His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji explained, “Our tourism goals are ambitious and achievable. Between 2022 and 2030, we seek to nearly triple the number of visitors, double tourism spending within destinations, and increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product to between 10 and 10.” 12 percent.”

According to Qatar Tourism data, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries constituted 41 percent of visitors, while the remaining 59 percent came from other international markets.

Key markets, including Saudi Arabia, India, the UK, Germany and the USA, have shown significant growth, reflecting Qatar’s diversified appeal.

Qatar Tourism confirmed that, in addition to exceeding the target number of visitors of 4.79 million visitors, Qatar has exceeded its annual target of selling 8.8 million hotel nights, as it has so far recorded nearly 10 million hotel nights sold this year.

She explained that to date, 56 percent of visitors have arrived by air, 37 percent by land, and the remaining 7 percent by sea.

She pointed out that the hospitality sector in Qatar has grown significantly, to include more than 40,000 hotel rooms.

The number of visitors to Qatar witnessed continuous growth throughout the year, with noticeable increases at the beginning and end of 2024. The Asian Cup, which was held in January, contributed to pushing the country towards an exceptional year, while the end of the year witnessed additional momentum coinciding with the beginning of the cruise season. 2024/2025, and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, in addition to the influx of record numbers of visitors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the school holiday last November.
