Spanish club Real Madrid revealed today the nature of the injury of its Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, and his absence from the stadiums with the first football team for a few weeks.
The club said, in a statement: “Courtois suffers from an injury to the connective muscle of the left leg. After his condition was diagnosed, the development of his condition will be monitored.”
Courtois suffered an injury during his team’s match, Real Madrid, with its neighbor, Atletico Madrid, in the eighth round of the Spanish League yesterday (Sunday), which ended in a draw (1-1).
The Belgian goalkeeper spent most of last season away from participating with Real Madrid due to a severe knee injury, but he returned and participated in the Champions League final, and contributed to the team winning its fifteenth title.
Real Madrid occupies second place in the Spanish League standings with 18 points, three points behind leaders Barcelona.
