The Russian space agency Roscosmos announced the development of a model of a new vehicle aimed at ensuring communication with spacecraft during their return to Earth.
The agency said in a statement: “Experts at the Yaroslavl Radio-Technology Plant of the agency were able to develop a prototype of a special vehicle that will be used to secure communications with spacecraft during their return from space and their landing on Earth.”
“This vehicle will be part of the equipment set for receiving and recording voice conversations from spacecraft during landings on Earth, and will secure communications between the crews of the vehicles and the rescue teams present at the landing sites, and will record video clips of the landings of the spacecraft,” she added, noting that the new vehicles will be built on the platforms of Russian “KAMAZ” trucks that have been modified to be able to cross rough terrain, and each vehicle will be equipped with two fully equipped workplaces for its crew.
“This vehicle is unique and designed for specific tasks. Our plant has extensive experience in developing such vehicles. Our specialists previously developed mobile communications equipment for the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The new vehicle has passed acceptance tests and initial factory tests, and will undergo additional tests in the fall of this year,” said Alexander Sachov, General Director of the Yaroslavl Radio-Technology Plant.
